Gansel to evolve 'Give a Boy a Gun'
Exclusive: BERLIN -- Dennis Gansel, who directed 2008 hit drama ''The Wave,'' is again embracing author Todd Strasser for his next film, ''Ich knall euch ab!'' Pic is dependant on Strasser's 2000 novel ''Give a Boy a Gun,'' about two troubled and heavily armed students who hold their class mates hostage in a high-school dance and concentrate on the jocks and instructors who tormented them. Pic will be occur Germany.Gansel's adaptation of Strasser's ''The Wave,'' that was also occur a German senior high school, grew to become a significant worldwide hit for Constantin Film. Using its search for teen violence, ''Ich knall euch ab!'' is viewed as a thematic follow-as much as that film. Jan Berger, who composed Gansel's 2010 vampire thriller ''We Would be the Evening,'' also authored the ''Give a Boy a Gun'' adaptation.Christian Becker of Munich-based Rat Pack Filmproduktion is creating the pic, that is set to shoot within the second quarter of the coming year. Constantin Film will distribute locally. Gansel's lately finished ''The Year from the Snake'' for UFA Cinema. The political thriller, which stars Moritz Bleibtreu, Kasia Smutniak and Max Riemelt, follows a Berlin tabloid journalist who travels to Moscow and will get swept up inside a web of intrigue and terrorism.Universal is placed release a ''The Year from the Snake'' in Germany later this season.
